I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, with an M.S. in Counseling Psychology, with more than ten years of experience. My approach is supportive, collaborative and evidence-based. Together we will explore the obstacles that you are facing and I will assist you in developing new ways to overcome them. I am well-suited to both short-term, solution-focused therapy and long-term, exploratory counseling. I have worked with children, adolescents, teens, and adults of all ages with a variety of mental health and life challenges, including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, social anxiety, anger, trauma, addictions, divorce and other life changes, and grief.
Personal: In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, reading, playing music, spending time with my family, and attempting to match the energy level of our small children. Did I mention I love coffee? Next to being a counselor and the study of psychology and human behavior, music is one of my other true passions in life. One of my favorite things to do is to listen to some classic rock or folk/indie tunes while attempting to sing and play along on my guitar.
Work History: My experience includes several years in acute crisis stabilization where I did two to three groups per day with clients who were mainly depressed and acutely anxious. I have also done intensive in-home counseling with children and their families. I was director of a crisis stablization facility for clients who had developmental delays and psychiatric diagnoses. I was a counselor for community health service boards for more than five years in both rural and city settings.
